Part of a series which makes literal the metaphor of “masking” neurodivergent traits, using five masks to explore the ways the artist compensates for her ADHD in public.
“Loudmouth” is performatively extroverted, masking social anxiety by making the wearer part of the joke. Talkative and enthusiastic to the nth degree, she is ringed with sunshine, or perhaps a lion’s mane. She is excitement and artificial joy, made from bright colors and clashing patterns. She is invincible.
